Region Green Building is devoted
to providing its members the most cutting edge learning opportunities, a
network through which members can easily find the information they need
and make the connections they want for personal or business benefit, and
a voice of leadership on the most critical issues of our time.
U.S.
Green Building Council is a non-profit
community of leaders working to make green buildings available to everyone
within a generation.
The
Leadership
in Energy & Environmmental Design (LEED)
Green Building Rating is a program of the U.S. Green Building Council. It
encourages and accelerates global adoption of sustainable green building
and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally
understood and accepted tools and performance criteria.
LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System. Sharon Cannizzo is a LEED AP
The National
Sustainable Building Advisor Program (NaSBAP)
offers an extensive training course and exam specifically designed to educate
industry members about the nuances of green building and how to apply sustainable
concepts to the buildings they design, develop, and construct. Sharon Cannizzo
is certified as a Sustainable Building Advisor.
The Northwest
EcoBuilding Guild is an association of
builders, designers, homeowners, tradespeople, manufacturers, suppliers
and others interested in ecologically sustainable building.
Our local Sellwood Westmoreland Business Alliance supports the local business in
the neighborhood.
Heifer
International is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization that
works
to end hunger and poverty, and to restore the environment by providing appropriate
livestock, training and related services to small-scale farmers worldwide.
Heifer helps communities use livestock as an integral component of sustainable
agriculture, environmental improvement and holistic development. Their vision
is a world of communities living together in peace and equitably sharing
the resources of a healthy planet.
Woman
for Woman International mobilizes women to change their lives
through a holistic approach that addresses the unique needs of women in
conflict and post conflict environments. They provide job skills training
to help establish a means to earn a sustainable living. Women who go through
the program assume leadership positions in their villages, actively participate
in the reconstruction of their communities, build civil society, start businesses,
train other women and serve as role models, they become active citizens
who can help to establish lasting peace and stability.
Habitat
for Humanity Portland/Metro East is an organization whose vision
is a community where everyone has a simple, decent, affordable place to
live; and where poverty housing is unacceptable. Their mission is to build
partnerships among volunteers, families and the community to transform lives
and revitalize neighborhoods by enabling families in need to earn and own
a simple, decent, affordable home.
